Cheap Canvas Prints FAQ
Here's a list of the most common questions. Please select a topic:
How big can my image be printed?
We recommend images be printed at at least 100 DPI. If you're not sure what that means then read on:
Every image is made up of dots (pixels). The bigger you print an image, the bigger those pixels will be. The bigger the pixels the more blurred the image will become.
The resolution of an image is measured by how many dots can be printed in one inch, or DPI (dots per inch) for short. So an image doesn't have a specific DPI. DPI is more about printing quality, how many of the dots from the image are printed in every inch of the physical canvas.
We recommend images be printed at at least 100 DPI. If your image is 1,000 pixels by 1,000 pixels and we print those 1,000 pixels at 100 dots in every inch, then the resulting print size will be 10" x 10". If we print it at a higher quality (higher DPI), say 200 DPI then 200 dots will be printed in every inch. After 5 inches, all 1,000 dots will be used, so the resulting printed canvas will be 5" x 5".
So, we can print any image at any DPI. The higher the DPI we print at, the smaller the resulting print will be.
If your image is under 100 DPI we recommend paying for our upsizing service. This doesn't mean we create detail in an image, but we spend some time upsizing, cleaning up the resulting noise and sharpening the image to give it the appearance of more detail. You can select this option when placing an order.
